Bark!
Bark! Bark!
The Garbage Man is coming! The Garbage Man is coming!
Must get outside to greet,
greet greet…
Stumbling over his back feet
running to the door…Bark Bark Bark!
More like Huff Huff Huff as he shows his age,
beautiful golden fur shedding in his wake.
I just vacuumed for goodness sake!
Each day we fret as his voice pales,
His back leg fails,
and he sleeps so deeply I check his breathing.
So yes, 8am might be too early for barking
and now the neighbours dog is starting!
But how much time is left for earthly fun?
Go on pup, get out there,
bark and huff and run
and tell the Garbage Man,
HELLO!
He will be 14 next month and he loves garbage day, recycle day…every day.
I’m with you. Life’s too short, especially for them. Let him enjoy it as long as possible. 😊

Yes. He has been such an awesome family member, it breaks my heart to think one day he will be living with his Granddad.

We just lost ours last week. Enjoy him every minute you have left with him. Hopefully, it’s many more years. 😊

It sucks. We’re all still sad. We’ll mourn, but then I’m certain we will have another one very soon. 😊

He’s beautiful! He’s reached the golden age where he should be able to speak his mind. I love the rhythm of your poem!

Wishing the best for your 14 year old puppy. Sadly, ours is 12.5 and beginning to slow down. They do live with so much exuberance, don’t they?

They sure do, and even at 14 ours often acts like a puppy, jumping and running with the other dogs….then sleeping for two days lol.
