Barking Mad

What are my biggest challenges?

Having spent about an hour reading the prompt submissions, which are great by the way, my challenge is to find something different to say, something that hasn’t been written about yet. So I’m not going to write anything about procrastination, meeting goals, family responsibilities, money, relationships, self-sabotage.

I could write about drinking too much wine, eating too many Pringles (is that even a thing, how on earth can you eat TOO many Pringles), or getting dog poo on my boots. Nope, these all seem too frivolous.

Barking! As I sit here trying to think of something original and inspirational to write about my biggest challenge right now is my ridiculous dog who is standing at the top of the stairs, facing the front door and barking her head off. This is a frequent occurrence and you’d think that after 11 years we would have figured out how to get her to stop, but we haven’t. I often regret my decision to get a front door with a window and side-light.

Shouting doesn’t work, distraction works for about a second, a biscuit will work while she eats it, coaxing her outside means she can get all the dogs in the neighbourhood to join in.

So my first post of Bloganuary is about barking.

Arrgggg she took a break to eat dinner and is now back in position at the top of the stairs making those pre-bark yipping sounds. All suggestions are welcome. I’m going to pour a glass of wine and put my headphones on.

  1. She can’t stop. She’s got work to do. Guarding and herding. My two have separation of labor, but it’s the same story. They had a big job earlier when the trash truck came and stole our garbage. As for Pringles, the Dalai Lama eats them, so how can you go wrong?

    1. Ha ha those darn trash trucks!
I agree it is her job…I have been trying to reduce the scope of her responsibilities to only bark at psychos wearing hockey masks and carrying a chainsaw. So far she is resisting the change lol.
