Inspired

A friend recently asked if I could make her a pair of dragon or unicorn earrings. She had originally messaged wondering if I had any earrings in blues and greens in stock and then asked about ‘bookish/imagination related’ designs. Fortunately I had some dragon and unicorn jewelry charms and I do enjoy a challenge so I immediately starting hatching designs.

The dragon charms are dragon heads and I was determined to put a bead in the mouth but the opening was small and at first I was bamboozled by how I could fit the crystal into the gap. I was worried about breaking the charm by forcing the mouth open. Nothing ventured nothing gained right?… I used my jewelry pliers, one set in each hand, and very slowly pried the dragons mouth open, just enough to insert the tiny bead. Then I carefully closed the mouth.

I made two designs for her to choose from; silver toned with Moonlight Quartz for balance and energy, and gold toned with Tigers Eye for strength and protection, Carnelian for warmth and fire, and Labradorite for imagination and magic.

After some discussion whether or not the Moonlight Quartz could be partnered with the gold toned dragon, I created one earring so she could see why I felt it wouldn’t work, the warmth of the gold tone paired with the cool Moonlight Quartz shimmer lessened the effect of both the charm and the crystals.

She chose the silver toned pair with the Moonlight Quartz, but either design would have made her the envy of all her friends.

The sweet little unicorn earrings have an Apatite crystal and two faceted glass beads for sparkle. Apatite for creativity, motivation and communication. A perfect energy for this customer who happens to be a school teacher.

Designing and creating an item takes time, and I take pride in choosing just the right crystal energy for each customer.

I have been remiss in doing any writing this week, hence the use four prompts in one post. πŸ™‚

p.s. the lotus blossom earrings have a Sodalite crystal – communication, self-esteem, it calms the mind and encourages us to think rationally.
