Just pick up the keys…

The temperature is dropping this weekend and although we have promised Sheila a winter camping trip let’s be realistic…. Alberta winters can be quite bitter.

So we did a quick overnight trip to take advantage of the beautiful fall weather

We loaded up way too much food and extra blankets and drove an hour out of town to Gooseberry Provincial Recreation Area.

We saw a massive beaver dam, something that was probably bear scat, cooked smokies over the open fire and wished that this was the beginning of a longer trip.

The next day we stopped at Elbow Falls and reminisced about our last visit when we still had our beautiful Zoey.

A short drive along the highway is Paddy’s Flats, another campground right on the river. We’ll definitely be going back there to camp and explore.

I should also mention the livestock, all along the highway there are cows, just hanging out, and they have right of way.

It was a great little trip and just proved to me again how many places there are to visit right on our doorstep.

We just have to pick up those van keys and go.
